Melissa is a Structured Literacy Coach at Southwest Regional Education Cooperative. She traces her passion for literacy and education to her childhood immersed in the captivating world of Trixie Belden mysteries. Inspired by those early experiences, she found joy in helping her sister practice reading after school, setting the stage for a lifelong commitment to fostering literacy. Melissa earned a Bachelor of Science in Education at the University of Kansas. Early in her career, Melissa's engagement with the University of Kansas Professional Development Schools played a pivotal role in shaping her collaborative spirit with fellow educators and dedication to continuous learning. She shares her expertise with elementary students, educators, and parents globally. Whether in urban, rural, or virtual settings, Melissa strives to empower students to thrive in education, career, and life.
