In this session, we will discuss the importance of place-based/community-based education and provide strategies for educators as a starting point for teaching concepts in various subjects. Teachers will walk away with tools for student-centered inquiry, which allow students to investigate local issues or questions that interest them. Other strategies discussed include community storytelling, problem-solving, story mapping, and nature walks.
