Join us to experience the power of difference in stories, specifically examining how cross-cultural storytelling can be used to create a welcoming environment. This approach offers a valuable opportunity for teachers to engage students from a variety of cultural backgrounds and exemplifies one way Tenet 3 of the NMIIS awakens in a literacy classroom. This workshop will empower teachers to move beyond the limiting idea of a singular "universal" story and embrace the richness that diverse narratives bring to a classroom. Participants will: engage in hands-on learning experiences, gain access to resources that support ongoing learning, and develop strategies for inclusive curriculum design and create action plans to strengthen community ties equipping them to lean into and plan for the incorporation of the NMIIS into their classrooms regularly!
