Rose Marie A. Lopez, M. A., Chihene Nde', Chicana from Southern New Mexico. Dedicating 20 years of experience in education, 15 years as a teacher and 5 years as a Special Educational Assistant (EA). Experience as an EA inspired obtaining a Master's Degree at NMSU. An undergraduate degree in Communications studies positioned a career teaching Language Arts in High School, providing Special Education Services. Ms. Lopez is Currently teaching the most amazing students in Grades 11 & 12 at Centennial High School in Las Cruces, NM and has continued to pursue ALL opportunities available in CLR professional development and is now eager to share. Ms. Lopez is currently seeking an additional certification from the Borderland Ethnic Studies (BEST) Program at NMSU, participated in the ISEECOLLEGE Institute at UNM, currently serving on the Hispanic Education Advisory Council to the NM Secretary of Education and most recently collaborated on the New Mexico Indigenous Instructional SCOPE. This experience has lead to becoming an advocate for CLR, inclusive and equitable education for ALL of students of NM, focusing on acknowledging Native and Cultural roots to empower student learning through providing restorative practices and support for CLR implementation and professional development for educators.
