About me
Amanda passionately serves the community through developing sustainable financial capability programs and partnerships for pre-K to college and community, as the Director of Financial Capability, at Nusenda Credit Union. With over 23 years of teaching and leadership experience in special education, gifted education, and TESOL, she continues to teach and support career/personal finance courses for high school dual credit programs at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) and Dona Ana Community College (DACC).
Holding a B.U.S degree from the University of New Mexico with a focus on ethnic and cultural studies, a M.A. in Special Education-Inclusive Practices for the Linguistically and Culturally Diverse Learner, and an Educational Leadership Ed.S. certificate, she is engaged in direct instruction, curriculum development, and educational leadership. Amanda continues to mentor aspiring educators and administrators as an instructor in CNM's post-baccalaureate teacher education program and as an Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) ProjectGLAD Agency trainer with Dual Language NM (DLENM).
Amanda currently serves as the President of Golden Apple Foundation of New Mexico, Board Member of Technology Leadership High School, Girl Scout troop leader for older girls, Advisory Board member for the CNM and DACC’s Business departments and CNM’s Education Department, and also as Co-Chair of the New Mexico Jump$tart Coalition for Financial Literacy
