About me
Amanda Herman has been an educator for grades Pre-K through 8th grade for 18 years. She started her career in south Florida teaching in a diverse, Title 1 charter school. Once moving to New Mexico, she taught for eight years at a private Montessori school before moving to Bernalillo Public Schools, where she has been ever since. While there, she has taught at both the middle and upper elementary school levels as a classroom teacher and reading interventionist. In addition, she served as a structured literacy coach, new teacher mentor, SAT coordinator and MLSS lead. She is currently serving as Interim Assistant Principal. She holds a master’s degree in education with an emphasis in literacy, a NM Level III teaching and administration credential as well as National Board Certification in EMC: Literacy. In 2023, she was honored to be nominated by her students for the New Mexico Golden Apple Teaching Award and was flattered to become a recipient. She is in the process of becoming a Certified Academic Language Practitioner to help better serve students with dyslexia in our state. Her passion is changing the trajectory of student’s lives by following the science of reading to ensure they become literate, informed citizens that can change the world!
